My friend Eric was in Europe this summer and sent me this gem:

"On the river of Paris no one knows what they are dancing to. No one speaks English. No one speaks spanish either. But they have an outdoor latin bar that plays spanish salsa music. After a long day of being shunned for not speaking french, I salsa danced and drank a desperado, which is a mix of beer and tiquilla (odd). Every once in a while a phony latin song peeped through, like Wycleff John's song with Shakira. Then and only then, I think I had the upper hand on the language barrier."
